There is nothing hotter right now than two lil letters… A.I.

The almost-daily announcements of game-changing innovations has been dizzying. And A.I. has become such a buzzword that it feels reminiscent of those halcyon days after the iPod launched when every new thing had to start with an “i”. Remember iCarly?

I’ve found media coverage of the explosion of A.I. equally discombobulating. Usually the more I read on a subject the more I understand, yet I’ve consumed just as many doomsday warnings about mass job losses and misinformation-fuelled civil unrest as I have cheerful portraits which show huge advances in creativity, productivity and scientific research. The A.I. booster bros who have taken over my Twitter feed with their endless threads haven’t helped either.
