The moon… and, specifically, the astronauts who went to its dark side.
The NASA mission, which sent a crew further from Earth than any humans have ever gone before, has broken streaming records, dominated Google search and turned Victor Glover, Reid Wiseman, Jeremey Hansen and Christina Koch into super stars.
The astronauts have been such a hit I doubt they’re prepared for the fame frenzy that will greet them when they land back on earth later today. Here’s what’s set the internet alight…
Victor Glover’s space shower
The crew member - who became the first Black person to fly to the Moon - became an internet boyfriend after taking a ‘shower’ in space. One commentator dubbed him Buff Lightyear…
Glover’s daughter, Maya, also went mega viral after she flexed her relationship by posting a video of her dancing while wearing a t-shirt with her father’s face on it alongside the caption “when your dad successfully pilots Artemis II halfway to the moon”.
The Cal Poly student’s post has been watched 12.5 million times on TikTok and more than nine million times on Instagram.

Tears in space
The crew captured hearts after proposing to name a moon crater after Reid Wiseman’s late wife. “We lost a loved one, her name was Carroll, the spouse of Reid, the mother of Katey and Ellie,” Jeremey Hansen said as he radioed the request to mission control. Wiseman and Koch were later seen wiping away tears on the livestream.
