Refreshingly it’s the female gaze that’s the common thread of the trend and it courses through films like Halina Reijn’s Babygirl, which has been dubbed “BDSM Barbie” and heard in music like Billie Eilish’s LUNCH, a tribute to eating out in the most sexual of senses.

Horniness has also been embraced by the masses too, with young women developing a set of catchphrases to express how feral (aka horny) they feel. “Raw. Next question.” “standing ovulation”, “a tear just rolled down my thigh” “five minutes and a hair tie”, “scrolling feels like a divorce” and “both lips are smiling” are common refrains on TikTok used in response to men who are viewed as sexually attractive.
