Hello! I hope you’re safe and staying sane wherever you are. I’m finding that the new Harry Styles album is very helpful if you need to disassociate.

In today’s letter we’re taking the temperature of Gen Z’s nihilistic new anthem, what your AI chatbot says about you, the 212 trend, the under 30s who want to be in the office, the new name for the chronically online, the it bag taking over London and much more. But before that a word on a new twist in the Beckhams’ messy family fallout…

The Beckhams prove Brooklyn’s point

A little over six weeks ago Brooklyn Beckham went scorched earth on his parents - David and Victoria - by accusing them of putting Brand Beckham ahead of their family. In a lengthy statement posted on Instagram he said: “Performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”

Of all of Brooklyn’s claims this one instantly passed the smell test. David and Victoria’s regular public proclamations portraying their family life as perfect were so coordinated that they gave off a strong whiff of inauthenticity.

It was this issue, their treatment of his wife, and a myriad of other charges and gripes, that led Brooklyn to make the decision to go no-contact with his family and state for the record that he did not want to reconcile with them.

Brooklyn couldn’t have been clearer about his position which is why what the Beckhams have done this week beggars belief.
